Sunday 27 March Academy Awards will be forever remembered for all the wrong reasons, so we are going to forget about anyone defending anyone’s honour with a slapping during the awards, and concentrate on the important stuff. The gorgeous outfits. But before we do, how good was it to see how happy and relaxed same sex couples were on the red carpet? And likewise, it was good to see transgender non-binary people equally relaxed in their own skin in front of the cameras too. Long may it continue.
So here are our most standout and notable outfits amongst a sea of glamour and glitter and plunging necklines:
Kristen Stewart – Kristen wouldn’t be Kristen if she didn’t display a little bit of a rebelliousness attitude while strutting her stuff down the red carpet. With Bella from Twilight almost a distant memory now, her Chanel shorts looked incredible against her shirt and jacket unbuttoned to the waist.
Billie Eilish – Singer Billie dazzled with jet black hair and an abundance of ruffles from Gucci. So much so that she nearly disappeared into them at one point. Her sultry expression was held perfectly throughout the camera flashes on the red carpet so thank fully her street cred was totally kept in tact.
Zendaya, the actor and singer, wore perhaps our favourite red carpet look – a white silk crop shirt top and silver skirt by Valentino. She looked amazing posing alone on the red carpet but where was Beau Tom Holland?
One of our favourite trends this season, the cut-out dress were doned by; Hayley Bieber, Vanessa Hudgens, Siena Miller and wearer of another of our fav outfits, Emilia Jones. She dazzled in a head to toe gold halter neck cut-out dress. The British actor known for CODA, is also known for being daughter of Singer and Presenter, Aled Jones.
Elliot Page rocked a classic tuxedo complete with bow tie when they were joined on stage with fellow stars of the indie film ‘Juno’ to mark it’s fifteenth anniversary. Also rocking a classic tux was british Oscar winner Kenneth Branagh.
Jada Pinkett Smith looked incredible in a dark green satin gown from Jean Paul Gaultier. With the stiffness of the ruched bodice and heavy flowing full ruffled skirt it is possible that the outfit might have been the reason why she wasn’t able to jump on stage and slap Chris Rock herself for his ridiculously insensitive insult.
Let’s not forget the boys outfits. Those who particularly styled it out were; Wesley Snipes (Blade films), who wore a plum Givenchy short suit, David Oyelowo (most notable for playing Martin Luther King in Selma) in his yellow flower patterned suit and Timothee Chalamet (Dune) going shirtless under a cropped glittery Louis Vitton jacket with lace detail.
Lily James (of Mama Mia and Pam and Tommy fame), was another actor who looked incredible in lace. Lily wore a soft pink lace Versace gown with a split to the hip. The dress also had a long chiffon train finished with pink flowers sewn into the fabric which oozed gorgeousness crossed with disney princess.
